All of our staff speak Spanish as a main language, so children will be hearing Spanish on a daily basis. Children will develop their understanding of the language primarily through songs and stories. The daily routine will help them to start building their vocabulary and at the end of their time in our nursery most of the children will be able to understand and communicate in both Spanish and English.
Despite being located on the first floor of the Latin American House building, that does not stop us enjoying outdoor activities, such as our daily trip to the Kilburn Grange Park playground. Whenever, the weather permits (more often than one might expect!) we put on our reflective waistcoats and head to the park.
We are fortunate to have a soft room where children can do more active and strenuous play on a daily basis as well, this room is one of the children’s favourites.
The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, and activities are planned to cover all areas of a child development.
The main areas to be developed are:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
As children grow they will be able to develop in the specific areas, which are:
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
